  • Database for plant uses by Native American tribes.

USDA Plants Database https://plants.sc.egov.usda.gov/java/

  • United States Department of Agriculture Plant Database. Includes general information (classification, distribution, etc.)

Wayne’s Word https://www2.palomar.edu/users/warmstrong/index.htm

  • Incredible, free, website for botany, biology, and general plant interests. Amazing early 2000’s web design.

In Defense of Plants https://www.indefenseofplants.com/

  • An excellent blog by PhD candidate Matt Candeias. Emphasis on the evolutionary histories and biological networks in and around plants, but approachable!

Edge Effects Magazine https://edgeeffects.net/about-edge-effects/

  • A digital magazine produced by graduate students at the Center for Culture, History, and Environment (CHE), at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. Emphasis on BIPOC histories.

Thayer, Samuel The Forager’s Harvest: A Guide to Identifying, Harvesting, and Preparing Edible Wild Plants

  • Guide for identifying and preparing wild plants in the US. Small snippets of history and a great voice make this an truly enjoyable read.
