Freeze 4 Later 2020
This sculptural work consists of a found freezer converted into a newspaper dispenser. The newspaper is composed of found text exposing the conflict. Visitors are welcome to take a copy of the publication. Links to the full texts can be found here.
Freezers played a considerable role in the modernization and dissolution of foraging practices. With regards to Gundelia tournefortii, freezers allowed the plant to be foraged in large quantities and frozen, apparently exhausting the plant’s population and leading to protection. Freezers made food considerably more transportable dissuading localized foraging traditions. Between freezers and the Israeli government, Palestinian foraging traditions are being forced into submission.
